with ID, credit cards, money,
what an inconvenience!

Now imagine
living without care,
not ever having nurturing, protective parents,
who could guide you through school, the challenges,
no applause for your accomplishments.

Imagine
the despair, lack of life skills, education, motivation and dreams for a future,
to say nothing of the abuse.
These are our homeless youth.

Yet somehow they open up and learn to trust, play, work,
smile at their very own accomplishments
and move on.

This is the Center for Independent Living.
In the spirit of giving thanks we invite you to share with us
the joy of making a difference.
